About Marathon Computer Press

Marathon Computer Press was founded in 1985 in Virginia Beach Virginia.  The first software written by the company was for the ADAM computer (yes the ADAM).  Titles included educational, security, and database applications.  Following a 2 year stint writing software for that platform, Marcompress began writing for the ATARI ST computer (a Motorola 68000 based system).  Some of the innovations were GUI desktop replacements, and the now popular "Bottoms-Up" menuing system developed for GFA Companion that was later adopted and popularized by Microsoft for Windows 95, and later Windows NT.

Since 1990 Marathon Computer Press has been writing software for the IBM PC market.  Our speciality has been in the area of data security, online testing, and Internet utilities.  Our most popular title has been WipePro Professional for Windows, now in it's 4th release.  The original WipePro was a groundbreaking software release that addressed the technical aspect of hard disk & floppy disk remanence (the ability of a magnetic medium to retain stored information even after overwriting it).  The latest version of WipePro Professional now supports all Windows platforms from Win95 to Windows XP, and Server 2003.

This website was our first venture into Internet distribution of our products.  We now support online e-commerce via Regsoft.

NOTE:
Occasionally we use the abbreviation MCP to reference our company name [M]arathon [C]omputer [P]ress as they are the initials of our name.  It in no way is a reference to Microsoft Certified Professional.  We have used this abbreviation since our founding in 1985 long before the Certified Professional Program existed.   Please do not confuse our use of the MCP abbreviation to associate with the aforementioned program.
